Status: Completed. Launch date set for April 2008
Overview: The Cambridge Office for Tourism is non-profit organization funded in part by the City of Cambridge. With over 300,000 visitors to Harvard Square per year, the Tourism Booth fields many questions about what there is to see and do in the Square beside the Harvard campus. Untravel developed a walking tour entitled “Beyond the Yard” designed to take visitors into the historic and cultural jems along Brattle Street and the Charles River. Starting in the middle of the Square, the walk can be customized to variable length, leading walkers to a pre-eminent folk music club, a historic burying ground, the Longfellow House, a Monastery, the Town’s original Market, and other sites all to the voices and tunes of locals: a monk, a park ranger, a brigadier general, a blue poet, etc.
Comments: “’Beyond the Yard’ brings out the human and cultural features of the site that other online and mobile companies couldn’t.”
